Video Of Large Quantity Of Old Naira Notes Goes Viral On Social Media
A trending video of several 50kg bags containing wasted old naira notes has sparked a whirlwind of outrage on the internet.
The 29 second video which was posted on twitter by letstalk9jablog shows several sacks loaded with dried old naira notes while a large volume of the currency formed a heap on the ground.
According to the unidentified fellow who recorded the video, the 500 and 1000 naira notes were dried and milled before taken to the location to be abandoned.
The commentator lamented that the development is coming in the midst of naira scarcity that has rendered many Nigerians incapacitated to carry out their financial obligations.
While the location could not be ascertained, it was gathered from the background of the video that it actually happened somewhere in Ogun State, South West region of Nigeria.
It was not indicated whether the naira notes were abandoned at the location because of the recent CBN policy or it has been there before then.
