INEC Not Ready To Allow Democracy Flourish In Nigeria- Femi Falana

Human right lawyer, Femi Falana has berated the Independent National Electoral Commission over its handling of the just concluded presidential election in Nigeria.

Falana’s reaction follows the controversy trailing the decision of the commission to flout the Supreme Court order mandating it to allow the Labour Party and others have access to election materials so as to prosecute their case in court.

Over ten days after the directive of the court, it was revealed by the legal team of Labour Party that the commission is yet to give it any access to the documents. The legal team pointed out that if it does not have access to the materials in the next nine days, it will jeopardize the case in court.

Reacting to the development on Monday, Femi Falana revealed that INEC is doing everything to frustrate democracy in Nigeria.

The constitutional lawyer made this known while featuring on the Monday edition of Channels TV Politics Today.

He said: “INEC is not ready to allow democracy flourish in Nigeria.”

Falana also stated that electoral violators should be punished to serve as deterrent to others.
