The presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi has given an insight into how he was able to win Lagos state during the last presidential election.

Obi came third in the election announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission after securing over six million votes from 11 states including the Federal Capital Territory.

Speaking on the outcome of the election while featuring on the Thursday edition of Channels TV Sunrise Daily, the former governor of Anambra State disclosed that he won Lagos state with a wide margin but INEC decided to announce a different result but he is not ready to comment on it because the matter is already in court.

Asked how he was able to win the state despite having the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to contend with, Peter Obi said he was not surprised that he won in the state. He said he knew he was going to win with a wide margin and that was what really happened until the result was manipulated at the collation center.

He revealed that people who voted for him are Nigerians who are yearning for good governance and are tired of a failed system currently being operated in the country.

According to him, he had already told them during his campaign that no one should vote for him because he is an Igbo man or Christian. He noted that he canvassed for votes based on competence and capacity and the people of Lagos who voted for him proved that he (Peter Obi) is the most qualified among the contestants and that was the reason for his victory in Lagos.
