Ballot Boxes, Papers Thrown Inside The Drainage In Lagos Are Recovered, Sun-Dried By Residents

The voting materials that were thrown inside the drainage in Ajeromi Ifelodun area of Lagos State have been retrieved and are now being sun dried.

The incident which was reported by Channels TV on Saturday afternoon has been generating mixed reactions from Lagosians.

According to the video which was posted on twitter, some yet to be identified hoodlums invaded the polling units in the area, seized the election materials and threw them inside the drainage.

The purpose according to eyewitness was to prevent people’s vote from being counted and disenfranchise potential voters.

However, people in the area appear to be resolute by not only voting but also ensuring that their votes count.

Immediately after the hoodlums completed their assignment and left, the voters entered the drainage and began to retrieve the soaked ballot papers from the drainage.

They later spread them on the floor to be sun-dried. The ballots papers according to the video have been thumb-printed by eligible voters.

This appears to be primary reason they decided to sun dry them to ensure that their votes count.
