Nollywood Actress, Chioma Akpotha Recounts How She Escaped Knives-Wielding Thugs At Her Polling Unit In VGC

The news of a bloody Governorship election in Lagos has started flooding the social media space few hours after the commencement of the polls.

The recent update is that of a Nollywood Actress, Chioma Akpotha who went to exercise her franchise at the Victoria Garden Center, VGC, Ajah. But she had to choose between right to perform her civic responsibility or her right to life.

The film maker had terror written all over her face while she was narrating her experience in a live Instagram story posted on her page.

Sitting at the back seat of her SUV while narrating her ordeal, she said she had to flee the polling units to avoid being stabbed to death by angry looking thugs.

She explained that after she was accredited to cast her vote, she brought out her phone but not quite long after, some unidentified people attempted to attack her with knives and bottles.

“They destroyed my side mirrors, hit my car. I don’t even know the extent of the damage to the car, but I just ran out for my life because they were bringing out knives; they wanted to stab me. Thank God I came with some people to help me,” she says.

The video shows her vehicle pulling up close to a van with the inscription ‘OP MESA’ parked by the roadside and manned by uniformed military officers.

After reporting the situation to them, the officers attempt to calm her down, assuring her that troops had been deployed to get the situation under control.

The actress however told her followers that she would not be returning to complete the exercise.
