What Obidients Are Doing In 2023 Is More Peaceful Than What Buhari’s Supporters Did In 2011- Ex-Fed. Lawmaker
The former Senator who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District at the 8th Assembly, Shehu Sani has reacted to the criticisms trailing the protest organized by Peter Obi’s Supporters in Abuja on Tuesday.
The Obidients movement took their protest to the Army Headquarters to express their displeasure about the way the 2023 presidential election was conducted in Nigeria.
The election, which produced the candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as president-elect, was widely condemned as it was believed to have fallen below standard and was completely flawed with irregularities.
The protesters who stormed the Army headquarters on Tuesday reportedly pleaded with the Army to intervene in the situation and save Nigeria’s Democracy.
The move by the Obidients has attracted massive condemnation by members of the ruling party.
Reacting to the development, Shehu Sani defended the Obidients and compared their present action to what really happened in 2011 when president Muhammadu Buhari who was then the presidential candidate of CPC lost the election and led a bloody protest in the country.
Comparing the two scenarios on his verified twitter page, Shehu Sani said: “What Obidients are doing in 2023 is more peaceful than what Buhari’s supporters did in 2011.”
He wrote: “NO patriot should trigger or encourage anarchy;but we shouldn’t also ‘shorten our memories’;what Peter’s supporters are doing in 2023 is more peaceful than what Buhari’s supporters did in 2011.You only need to recall the past in order to appreciate the present
