I Will Not Hold A Nigerian Passport With Bola Tinubu As President -Ex-Lagos Deputy Gov., Sinatu Ojikutu
When Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu was declared the winner of the February 25 presidential election by the Independent National Electoral Commission, former deputy governor of Lagos State, Alhaja Sinatu Ojikutu concluded that there was a serious problem ahead.
For her, the only way to escape from the imminent trouble is to leave the country for good.
Ojikutu, who deputized for Michael Otedola between 1992 and 1993 had already vowed before the election to leave the country if by any chance Tinubu won the election, and this is exactly what she is planning to do any moment from now.
While speaking with journalists on Wednesday, the former deputy governor said she has now started the process of renouncing her citizenship and travelling out of the country.
She said: “I will not hold a Nigerian Passport with Bola Tinubu as president.”
She said since the former Lagos governor won, she has been constantly subjected to humiliation and dishonour.
“I will not hold a Nigerian passport with Bola Tinubu as president. I am praying to God to give me the nation I can go to. I am not going to America or the United Kingdom. I want a simple place where I (can) stay and live for the rest of my life,” she said.
“I don’t know where I am going but I have already given it to the lawyers to please see where I can get the citizenship. I am working on it seriously before May 29.”
RovingNaija recalls that another prominent Nigerian who has vowed to leave the country if Bola Tinubu emerges president is a chieftain of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Olabode George.
Although he is yet to relocate to Ghana as he vowed before the 2023 presidential election, many Nigerians are still hopeful that the maverick politician and a retired senior Naval Officer will carry out his threat as a face-saving action before Bola Tinubu is sworn in on May 29.
