What Sowore Said On Rumoured Apology Sent By British Govt To Peter Obi

The controversial arrest and detention of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi in the United Kingdom had again sparked another controversy on social media.

The news went viral on Wednesday that the former governor of Anambra state was arrested, detained and interrogated at the Heathrow Airport last Friday while making a trip to London for an event.

According to the immigration officers who interrogated him, Obi was being impersonated and his identity duplicated by someone else in the UK.

The social media has been buzzing since the news was broken by his former commissioner for Information in Anambra, Professor Chinyere Okunna.

However, the news took another dimension on Thursday when it was revealed that the British government has apologized to the Labour Party standard bearer.

This was revealed by some members of his presidential campaign council.

Shortly after the news of British apologies became the subject of public discourse, Peter Obi denied it, saying the government has not apologized to him. Peter Obi’s response further created more confusion on the matter.

Reacting to the development, the presidential candidate of the Action Alliance, Omoyele Sowore said Peter Obi’s detention in the UK is not as simple as he tries to present it.

Sowore stated this on his verified twitter handle on Thursday.

He wrote: “See how @peterobi quickly denied the fake news that the @GOVUK has apologised to him over his UK immigration debacle? I keep telling folks that @petetobi detention in the UK is not as simple as he tries to present it, he knew that lies about apologies from the UK govt might compound his situation.?This was the reason he’s avoiding telling the story himself. Lying is second nature to @peterob
