Wike Declares Public Holiday As Tinubu Storms Rivers
Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike has declared Wednesday as public holiday to welcome the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu into the State.
The governor invited the incoming president to inaugurate some projects completed by his administration in the state capital, Port Harcourt.
In a state broadcast on Tuesday, Governor Wike said Tinubu is scheduled for a two-day visit to commission some projects in the state on Wednesday and Thursday.
Some of the projects lined up for Tinubu’s commissioning include Rumuokwuta-Rumuola flyover and the newly built Magistrate Court Complex in Obio/Akpor and Port Harcourt Local Government Areas, respectively.
The governor revealed that it is a source of honour for him and the people of Rivers State to invite the presence of the President-elect to the oil rich state.
While urging the private businessmen and Labour Union in the state to understand him, he told the civil servants to stay off work on Wednesday to enable them welcome the former governor of Lagos into the State.
His action has however triggered reactions on social media.
