Ekweremadu’s intended-Kidney Donor Begs Court To Stay In UK, Work & Play Football

The intended kidney donor in the Ekweremadu’s Organ Trafficking, David Nwamini has begged the court to allow him stay in the United Kingdom to enable him work and play football.

David, who has been at the center of the controversy that landed the former deputy senate president, Ike Ekweremadu, his wife, Beatrice and their doctor, Obinna told the UK court that returning to Nigeria might lead to his arrest or death.

His impact statement was read in court, during the sentencing of the couple over Organ harvesting.

Ekweremadu was jailed for 9 years and 8 months, his wife, Beatrice was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months while their doctor, Obinna Beta bagged ten years Imprisonment.

They were all pronounced guilty at the Old Bailey of conspiring to arrange the travel of a young man with a view to exploiting him for his body part.

Narrating his ordeal through the impact statement which was read in court, David revealed that he never knew he was coming to UK for his organ to be harvested. He said they told him he was coming to work.

“He (Dr Obina Obeta) did not tell me he brought me here for this reason. He did not tell me anything about this.

“I would have not agreed to any of this. My body is not for sale.

“I worry for my safety in Nigeria. Those people can do anything. I think they could arrest me or kill me in Nigeria.

“My plan now is to work and to get an education and to play football at Heathrow Airport” he said.
