Sowore Tackles Police Prosecutor Who Asked Court To Detain Seun Kuti For 21 Days
The human right activist and presidential candidate of the Action Alliance in the just concluded general election, Omoyele Sowore has reacted to the argument of the Police Officer in charge of Seun Kuti’s case to detain the Afrobeat singer for 21 days.
Seun Kuti was granted bail on Tuesday after spending a night in the police cell but his bail would not be effected until the investigation into the matter is concluded.
The chief magistrate then ordered the police to conclude the investigation within 24 hours.
However, the Police prosecutor in charge of the case asked for an exparte order from the court to detain Seun for 21 days so as to enable the state police command to obtain his statement to help them in their investigation.
Reacting to the exparte order, Sowore revealed that there is institutional and historical grudge to be settled with the Kutis by the police, saying they are not seeking justice but want to exact revenge.
Sowore made this known on his Twitter page shortly after Seun was granted bail in court.
He wrote: “Prosecutors of the @PoliceNG are asking for ex parte order to detain @realseunkuti for 21 days just to obtain his “statement” they also claimed the officer involved in the altercation is now in “coma” after he left Seun’s house and finished writing his report. There is institutional and historical grudge to be settled with the Kutis. They are not seeking justice just want to exact revenge
