Unknown Gunmen have kidnapped Reverend Father Jeremiah Yakubu, the parish priest of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Karku, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The Chancellor of the Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan, Reverend Father Emmanuel Okolo confirmed the development in a statement on Monday.
According to the statement, Father Yakubu was snatched from the safety of the parish rectory in Kauru LGA at approximately 11 pm on Sunday, leaving the community and congregation in shock.
In light of this grave situation, Father Okolo implored the faithfuls to unite in fervent prayer, praying for the prompt release and safety of the kidnapped clergyman.
He further urged parishioners to avoid taking matters into their own hands, emphasising the importance of allowing law enforcement agencies to handle the situation.
Assuring the distressed community, Father Okolo vowed that the church would exhaust all lawful avenues to facilitate the swift return of Reverend Father Yakubu.
