The Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, through the National Emergency Medical Service and Ambulance System (NEMSAS), has commended the Lagos State Ambulance Service, LASAMBUS, for its exemplary professionalism and unwavering commitment to delivering rapid emergency medical response services as an integral part of the Lagos State Emergency Response framework.
This dedication was particularly evident during the swift and effective response to the unfortunate incident at the Native Land concert held at Elegushi Beach (SoL Beach), Lagos. During the event, a stage unexpectedly collapsed, resulting in multiple casualties.
The pre-positioned LASAMBUS team responded promptly, mobilizing additional resources to manage the situation efficiently. On-site paramedics provided immediate medical care for those with mild injuries, while patients with more severe injuries were transported to nearby hospitals for advanced medical attention.
“NEMSAS as the leading program for institutionalizing emergency medical services in Nigeria, applauds this outstanding effort by LASAMBUS. While extending our heartfelt sympathies to the victims and their families, we also urge other State Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance Systems (SEMSAS) across the nation to remain steadfast in delivering timely and effective emergency medical services to the Nigerian populace.
“Together, we can strengthen our emergency response systems and safeguard the health and safety of all Nigerians”, the message said.
