Lagos Commissioner For Physical Planning Resigns A Day After Building Collapsed

Dr. Idris Salako, the Lagos State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development has turned-in his resignation letter barely 24 hours after the tragic collapse of a 7-story building at Oba Idowu Oniru State, Lekki Lagos.

Salako’s resignation was confirmed and communicated to the public by the Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotosho.

While it is not yet ascertained if the letter was submitted immediately after the collapsed building, one thing Omotosho made clear was that the resignation notice was accepted by the Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The governor was said to be carrying out a restructuring of Ministry and its agencies in Lagos state.

According to the report on Channels TV, Sanwo-Olu was said to have thanked the commissioner and wish him the best

“The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has accepted the resignation of the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Idris Salako,” the statement read.

“Sanwo-Olu also thanked the commissioner for “his services to the State and wishes him success in his future endeavours.”

The governor equally warned all players in the sector to respect the law or face the consequences of any indiscretion, no matter who the perpetrators are.
