Ondo-Born Sam Olumekun Replaces Festus Okoye As INEC Voter Education & Information C’ttee Chair

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has announced Mr. Sam Olugbadebo Olumekun as the new Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, IVEC.

This comes as Barrister Festus Okoye’s tenure recently expired.

The announcement was made via a press statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Mr. Rotimi Oyekanmi.

The statement reads, “I am pleased to inform you that we now have a new Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee (IVEC).

“He is National Commissioner Sam Olugbadebo Olumekun, mni, who needs no introduction. He replaces former National Commissioner, Barrister Festus Okoye, whose tenure expired recently.

Mr Sam Olugbadebo Olumekun brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role, as he steps into this crucial position within the INEC.

This change in leadership marks an important transition within the INEC, with Mr. Olumekun poised to uphold and further enhance the commission’s commitment to providing accurate and comprehensive information to voters and the public.

Sam Olumekun, a former permanent secretary, Government House and Protocol in Ondo State was the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Lagos. He later became an INEC National Commissioner, the position he occupied until his recent elevation as Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee.
