Photo: Navy Destroys Vessel Involved In Economic Sabotage In Port Harcourt

As part of effort to curb the possession of illegally refined product in Nigeria, the Joint Task Force South South Operation Delta Safe has destroyed and set ablaze another vessel, called MV Ofuoma loaded with over twenty thousand liters of illegally refined product suspected to be Automotive Gas Oil.

RovingNaija gathered that the he vessel was intercepted and impounded at Abuloma Jetty in Port Harcourt on 27th of August, 2023.

The burning of MV Ofuoma alongside a wooden boat used in supplying the illegal product is coming few weeks after operatives of the same Operation Delta Safe, intercepted, arrested and set ablaze a vessel called MV Cecilia which was used as a storage and dispensing unit for illegally refined product.

Commander Joint Task Force South South Operation Delta Safe, Rear Admirer, Olusegun Ferreira while addressing newsmen at the scene of the destruction of the Vessel on Sunday, says the Joint Taskforce of South-south Operation Delta Safe is determined to ensure that no stone is left unturned in the fight against crude oil theft, vandalism and criminality in the region.

Rear Admirer, Olusegun Ferreira who was represented by the Maritime Component Commander, Operation Delta Safe, Commodore Adedokum Siyanbade says the burning of MV Ofuoma was done after confirmation of the illegality of the product being stored in the vessel, warning other intending criminals that the OPDS will not relent in its efforts in going after economic saboteurs.

Commodore Siyanbade further urged members of the public to continue to support the Operation with credible information in a continued effort in ensuring that crude oil theft and other related crimes are eradicated within the region.
