Rema identifies Four Great Musicians Who Inspired Him

Sensational Nigerian singer, Divine Ikubor, aka Rema, has revealed that late Afrobeat pioneer, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, Wizkid, Burna Boy and American rapper, Kanye West inspired him to do music.

He disclosed this in an interview with Hip TV.

Rema said he is inspired by Burna Boy’s story, Wizkid’s lifestyle and Kanye West’s creativity.

He said, “I’m inspired by Burna Boy because of his story. Fela Kuti inspires me. Kanye West inspires me because of how far he goes in terms of his creativity and production.

“I really like Wiz kid because of how he carries himself.”

He said he plans to stay consistent by being original and unique.

Divine Ikubor, better known as Rema, hit the headlines after the remix of his hit song, ‘Calm Down’ with Selena Gomez became the first African song to hit the billion mark in Spotify’s history.

The original version of ‘Calm Down’ was recognized by Guinness World Record as the first number one song on the world’s first regional streaming chart, MENA.
