IGP Directs Lagos CP To Investigate Mohbad’s Death

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has issued an urgent directive to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, instructing him to initiate a swift and comprehensive investigation into the tragic passing of musician Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, widely known as Mohbad.

According to a statement from ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, mnipr, mipra, Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters Abuja, this directive was conveyed during a brief but crucial discussion at the Police Airwing Hangar, Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, on Saturday 16th September, 2023.

He tasked the CP to quickly and effectively unravel the truth behind the tragedy as there have been understandable concerns and speculations surrounding the circumstances of his untimely demise.

The Nigeria Police Force hereby earnestly urges any family members or close associates possessing valuable information pertaining to this case to come forward and cooperate with the Lagos State Police Command to ensure that justice is served and the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s demise are thoroughly examined.

Meanwhile, the management of late musician Oladimeji Aloba, alias Mohbad, has said that the singer’s outstanding royalties are being held by his previous record label, Marlian Music. This was revealed in a statement posted on the singer’s Instagram account on Sunday.

“Before his death, Mohbad was in court to recover majority of his songs and unpaid royalties that were wrongfully held by Marlian Music,”.

“We will fight to recover his catalogue and unpaid royalties so that those he left behind, particularly his son, Liam Imole, will be provided for.

“We want #JusticeforMohbad, and we will appreciate any help we can get in our fight to reclaim his catalogue from Marlian Music, as this is the justice that Mohbad was seeking,” the statement said.

MohBad left Marlian Music in 2022, demanding unpaid royalties dating back to 2019. He died on Tuesday, at the age of 27.

In addition, the late singers album got to number one in Apple music yesterday as he got mentioned by most on air personalities and music bloggers.
