A residential three storey building has collapsed in Surulere, Lagos.
The building, located on No 14 Ikpoh Street, off Ayinde street in Ikate just some meters away from the popular Lawanson busstop, Surulere came crashing down at between 9:30 and 10:00pm on Friday night.
According to eye witness accounts, the building showed signs of structural defect in the evening and an alarm was raised forcing the street residents to rally the occupants to evacuate the building immediately.
It is believed that the concerted effort by residents of the neighborhood and passersby to rescue the situation paid dividends as no occupant is believed to be trapped in the collapse building.
The only resident who sustained injuries is identified as a woman who was adamant about returning into the distressed building to salvage some valuables but luckily for her, the building collapsed just as she attempted to force her way back in. She sustained minor injuries in the process.

Update: When RovingNaijaReporters paid a follow up visit to the scene of the disaster on Saturday morning, some officers of the Nigerian Police Force together with some officers of LNSC were already on ground to protect valuables and maintain the peace.
