The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike has approved a period of three months extension for title owners who are yet to develop their plots but have obtained building plan approvals from the FCT department of development control to comply.
The Director of information and communication of the FCT administration, Hazat Sule, in a statement implored the affected title owners including individuals, corporate organizations and public institutions to take advantage of the grace period to avoid having their plots revoked.
The administration explained that the decision to extend the time for certain title owners was taken to encourage owners of landed properties in the federal capital city who have demonstrated commitment towards developing the city to take advantage of the grace period.
The administration warned that at the expiration of the three months extension, those who fail to develop their plots will have them revoked while public institutions in the same category will be sanctioned.
RovingNaija reports that the minister had on Thursday approved the revocation of one hundred and sixty five plots in Abuja, some of them owned by prominent politicians including presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi, former senate chief whip, Udoma Udoma, former cross River Governor, Liyel Imoke, the first minister of Niger Delta, Ufot Ekaette and a host of others
