The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, today carried out an inspection tour of some of the flooded areas in the state as part of his plan for a regeneration of those communities.
This was contained in videos shared by the state’s Commissioner, of Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, via his X handle on Sunday.
According to Wahab, some of the flooded areas visited are Ojo Giwa, Princess, Oroyiyin, Idumagbo, and Pelewura areas in Lagos Island.
He added that the governor, during the tour, issued a one-week quit notice to people who had done illegal construction of shops and market stalls on the drainages and unauthorized stores in different parts of the markets.
The Governor also instructed the Ministry of the Environment to serve the requisite notices and begin the demolition of illegal structures immediately.
