Certificate Saga: Ex-Minister, Dalung Reveals Reason For Posting His Academic Records On Social Media
Mixed reactions are trailing the explanation of former Nigeria’s Minister of Sports and Youths, Solomon Dalung for posting his WAEC Certificate on social media.
Lalung posted the document on his X handle on Saturday in the wake of controversies that have greeted the Chicago State University certificate of the Nigeria’s president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Recall that former vice president Atiku Abubakar had taken the president up on his Chicago University certificate alleging that what was submitted to INEC was not originated from the school and should be disqualified on the basis of forgery.
Having confirmed that the certificate was issued to the president from a vendor and was punctuated with what many believed as obvious discrepancies, the development triggered a whirlwind of controversies both on conventional and social media.
Amidst the internet uproar, Dalung who was a member of National Executive Council under president Muhammadu Buhari stormed his X handle on Saturday and uploaded his WAEC Certificate, Bachelor and Masters of Law certificates both from the University of Jos.
He wrote: “I’m an alumni of the University of Jos, Nigeria. I surrender my academic records for public scrutiny.”
Defending his reason for going that route while featuring on Channels TV Sunrise Daily on Tuesday, the former minister said he decided to make his academic records available for public scrutiny.
“I voluntarily made my credentials available for public scrutiny. The reason behind this decision stems from the ongoing intense international and national brouhaha surrounding the issue of academic credentials in Nigeria.”
The update which was shared on X by the TV station has sparked another reactions from users.
