Nursing Mother dies With Her Baby In Adamawa Boat Mishap

A nursing mother and her baby have lost their lives following a boat that capsized in Gamado, a community in Numan Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

RovingNaija News reports that the ill-fated boat was conveying about five passengers on a river located in the community before the sad incident occurred on Monday.

Three passengers were rescued while the victim and her baby died in the incident and their body yet to be recovered.

In a fact finding visit, Deputy Governor of the state, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, insisted on the enforcement of the use of life jackets by canoe users for the safety of water transportation.

Professor Keletapwa, who was received by the Chairman, Numan Local Government Area, Christopher Sofore, challenged relevant Agencies to ensure the provision and enforcement of the use of life jackets by canoe users to minimize the loss of lives and property during such eventuality.

He advised the stakeholders to always ensure timely reporting of such incidents to police and other relevant authorities.

The State Government, according to her, will continue to come up with policies towards ensuring the safety of lives and property on waterways.

Earlier, the LG chairman, Sofore informed the Deputy Governor that out of the five people on board, three were rescued while a woman and her child are still missing.

Sofore added that a rescue and search mission is ongoing to recover the two other bodies.
