Breaking: Wike-Fubara Rift Update: Commissioner For Finance Also Tenders Resignation Letter

This appears to be an indication of a worsening crisis in Rivers State, as two more commissioners have resigned their positions in the state executive council.

They are the Commissioner for Works and staunch loyalist of former governor Nyesom Wike, Dr George-Kelly Alabo, and his counterpart in the Ministry of Social welfare and Rehabilitation, Mrs Inime Chinwenwo-Aguma.

Their resignation was signed in a letter dated December 14 and addressed to Governor Siminalayi Fubara through the Secretary to the State Government, Alabo, who served as Wike’s Works Commissioner, said he resigned based on the dictates of his conscience.

In the letter titled, ‘Resignation as Honourable Commissioner For Works, Rivers State, he wrote, “My decision to resign is anchored on my conscience, personal philosophy, and professional ethics. This decision was taken after deep introspection.”

He thanked the governor for the opportunity to serve.

Alabo and Chinwenwo-Aguma’s resignation came hours after the state Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, Prof Zacchaeus Adangor resigned his position.

Meanwhile the commissioner for finance in Rivers State, Isaac Kamalu has also resigned his appointment. His resignation letter which reached RovingNaija News desk a few minutes ago, came in just after the resignation of the commissioners for Works, and Social Welfare/Rehabilitation.

There are indications that more commissioners who are loyal to the Minister of the  FCT, Nyesom Wike would tender their resignation letters sooner rather than later.

What remains unclear is whether Wike has another magic wand to spin to stem the tide of this curious and untimely mass resignations by his core loyalists as the battle for the soul of oil-rich Rivers State intensifies.
