PHOTOS: Why Stop-and-search Is Very Important – Delta Police PRO Declares

The Delta State Police Command spokesperson, Bright Edafe, says there is merit in the stop-and-search tactics deployed by the Force to curb increase in crime rate in the country.

In a post shared via his X handle on Thursday, (today), the Delta PPRO, while acknowledging how inconveniencing the routine might be, said that citizens should learn to be patient and cooperate with the police.

Sharing photos he said : “Stop and search is very important, pls be patient with us. Kindly read this and understand why!!!

“I got a call from a distress caller that they were on a commercial vehicle coming to Asaba, but the Police stopped them at Kwale and searched all the passengers, he said he didn’t know what they saw with one of them, and that after seeing that thing, the policemen took all of them to the Station. I asked that he give the policemen the phone, guess what was found with one of the passengers? 

“A cut-to-size gun, and two live cartridges concealed inside a bag containing smoked fish. He was detained and other passengers were allowed to go. You can see that stop and search is so important, I quite agree that it may inconvenience passengers, but pls always be patient and cooperate with the Police.”
