Not less than four passengers were killed while ten others were seriously injured in a lone accident that occurred in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The accident happened around 6.30am on Saturday as the driver of the bus, identified as a Chisco Company luxurious bus with Reg no KSF 93 YG, lost control and ran into the ditch.
A witness, who preferred to remain anonymous, told newsmen on Sunday that officials of the Nigeria Police Force were quick to visit the scene alongside men of the Federal Road Safety Corps to evacuate the victims to the hospital.
Confirming the crash in a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, blamed the driver of the passengers’ bus for the lone accident.
Mrs Odunlami-Omisanya explained that the driver, who was driving the passengers from Port Harcourt to Lagos State lost control of the vehicle before the crash occurred.
“Passengers in the vehicle were rushed to Grace of God hospital by the Police; four people were confirmed dead and their remains deposited at the hospital mortuary while 10 were injured and are being treated,” she said.
While sympathizing with the families of the victims, Mrs Odunlami-Omisanya urged transport companies to always check the well-being of their drivers before transporting passengers with their vehicles
