18 Of 24 Lawmakers Move To Impeach Zamfara Speaker

Eighteen out of twenty four members of Zamfara State House of Assembly on Thursday moved to impeach the Speaker, Honorable Bilyaminu Moriki, sparking political shockwaves across the state.

It was gathered that heavily armed security operatives have taken over the entrance gate of the complex in Gusau to prevent chaos.

A member of the House, who pleaded anonymity, told newsmen in a telephone interview that plans have been concluded to impeach the speaker.

The seventh Zamfara State House of Assembly was inaugurated on June 13th, 2023.

The People’s Democratic Party, PDP, has majority number of the lawmakers in the House.

According to sources within the Assembly complex, the Speaker has been embroiled in allegation of financial misappropriation which consequently led to impeachment moves against him.
