Police Arrest Man Advocating For Violent Protest In Plateau
The Plateau State Police Command has arrested a suspect concerning a video which he released on his TikTok account stimulating violence in connection with the planned nationwide protest.
In a press statement, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Alfred Alabo, said the 34-year-old Sleiman Yakubu, a resident of Jos North, was trailed and arrested at Ahmadu Bello Way on Sunday afternoon through an impeccable informant.
“The attention of the command was drawn to the video putatively emanating from a TikTok account, identified as “dam-mallam68”.
“The suspect in the video was seen assertively inciting the public to attack security operatives and burn down critical state and private infrastructures in plateau state as part of the activities for the protest.”
“Based on the strength of the information, the Plateau State Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina, sets tactical assets of the command on motion to trace and apprehend the source of the mischievous video.”
Consequently, the suspect was trailed following intelligence reports, was arrested, and has since confessed to being the author of the inciting video.
The commissioner of police restated that the police will intensely resist any attempt by mischief makers to plunge the state into chaos, stressing the need for peace to remain uninterrupted in the state before, during, and after the protest.
He urged citizens to be law-abiding, refrain from making inciting comments that will threaten peace and security in the state, and report any suspicious activities to the police.
