Residents of Ajeromi /Ifelodun LCDA have been advised to restrain themselves from joining the planned nation wide protest starting from August 1, 2024, over hunger and hardship in the country. This call was made by the Igbos in APC Ajeromi/Ifelodun in a press conference.

The group led by the Igbo apex leader Nkem Igwe, called on the residents especially the Igbos, to exercise restraint and give the President Tinubu led administration more time to carry out its economic reforms which is for the benefit of Nigerians.

“The leadership of Ndi Igbo in APC Ajeromi/Ifelodun local government have advised all Igbos in the local government to exempt themselves from the planned protest because of the experience of endsars; where lives were lost, buildings razed down as hoodlums took over the whole process.
After a meeting with the leaders of Ndi Igbo, we advised them to caution their children to remain indoors during this period as we will not be part of the protest “, the Igbo apex leader said.

In her own submission, Hon.Mrs Ifeoma Anene, deputy leader, Ajeromi/Ifelodun LGA, representing Ward I, said that one of the reasons she is not in support of the protest is because of the endsars saga. The lawmaker made it clear that she has nothing against protests which is the people’s constitutional right. However the memory of the 2020 endsars protest is still fresh in people’s mind where more than 80 cars were burnt and the council’s secretariat was affected.

She however praised the Chairman, for his foresight in equipping security agencies by supporting them with Hilux vans to make their work easy. The local government, she added, has provided vehicles for Trinity Police station, Ajeromi and Tolu Police stations respectively with some of the security operatives posted to man some of the hotspots.

The chairman of Ndi Igbo in APC, Ajeromi/Ifelodun, Evangelist Nwachukwu said President Tinubu has good intentions for the country and should be given time to carry out his economic plans. He added that the chairman has done well in providing palliatives for the people .

Another leader in the group Chief Silas Ngozi Ogbuehi, noted that all the Igbos in the local government no matter their party affiliation should restrain themselves from taking part in the planned protest from August 1, 2024.
