Dangote Refinery Set To Commence The Sale Of Fuel Into The Nigerian Market
Nigerians my heave a sigh of relieve soon with the fuel situation in the country which continues to bite harder. The good news is that Dangote Petroleum Refinery has concluded arrangements to begin the sell of the Premium Motor Spirit, also known as petrol.
This is coming on the heels of the excruciating fuel scarcity which NNPCL says may persist as they are owing a huge sum of money to their debtors
According to Olufemi Soneye, Chief Corporate Communication Officer of NNPC Ltd, the company has acknowledged recent reports in national newspapers regarding the company’s significant debt to petrol suppliers. This financial strain has placed considerable pressure on the Company and poses a threat to the sustainability of fuel supply.
“In line with the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA), NNPC Ltd. remains dedicated to its role as the supplier of last resort, ensuring national energy security. We are actively collaborating with relevant government agencies and other stakeholders to maintain a consistent supply of petroleum products nationwide”. He explained.
However, only the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited NNPCL will be authorized to sell Dangote fuel for now, to maintain low product prices until October, when private refineries can start buying crude oil in Naira.
