Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala threatens Action Against Impersonators

The Director General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Dr. Mrs. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has threatened to take action against those who may attempt further to use her name to issue fake reports or carry out false publication and propaganda against the Alex Otti led-government.

This is coming on the heels of a Fake Report suspected to have been sponsored and issued by the Abia oppposition against Abia state government and Governor Alex Otti and credited to the former Minister of Finance and current DG of the World Trade Organisation, Dr. Mrs. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.

Reacting to the publication which criticised Governor Otti for allegedly not giving credit to the immediate past PDP led-government, for allegedly ruling with propaganda and for alleged inference with the so-called Enyimba Economic City, Dr. Okonjo-Iweala denied knowledge of the statement and described it as FAKE and warned the brains behind it to beware as she wouldn’t hesitate to take action against those she described as Political hacks if they don’t desist.

Dr. Okonjo-Iweala’s disclaimer which was published on her official X (Twitter) account reads thus “FAKE!! I have taken screenshots of a fake article purported to be written by me about Abia State and its Gov HE Alex Otti that tries to fraudulently build on my recent speech on a Social Contract for Nigeria. Political hacks beware of using me for propaganda. I shall take action!”

The false statement which bore the imprimatur of the opposition PDP, was seen as another desperate strategy to paint the Abia Chief Executive Black in the media using a name they know is very credible and reputable, having realised that Abians do not pay attention to any article or statement emanating from them.

In the last few weeks, the opposition PDP and their agents have launched unprecedented media attack which has seen them fabricate all kinds of lies geared towards smearing the image of the Governor and his government, unfortunately this effort has not yielded the desired result as Governor Otti continues to enjoy unprecedented support and solidarity of Abians wherever he goes, a situation which has increased the obvious frustration of the opposition.

Just recently, there was a leak from a WhatsApp group where young men are recruited, paid between 20,000 to 30,000 and mandated to go and blackmail the Governor or share false reports aimed at discrediting the government.

Following Mrs. Okonjo-Iweala’s disclaimer, there has been graveyard silence in the camp of the opposition PDP as they fear that those who impersonated Madam DG might be caught if the former Finance Minister takes further action.

The PDP has not hidden its resolution and determination to run amok against the Otti led-government as a payback for Otti’s years of consistent and unrelenting pro-people opposition which climaxed with the crushing defeat of the former ruling party during the 2023 election, a development that has caused some sort of psychological trauma and frustration to most leaders and supporters of a faction of the PDP in the state. Unfortunately, the party seems to be adopting a wrong medieval strategy of propaganda and distortion, which has further diminished its profile, rather than promote whatever ideals it pretends to hold.

Making a false statement and crediting same to a highly placed and reputable person like Dr. Okonjo-Iweala is another dishonourable dimension which the opposition has taken to advance its dangerous agenda, hence the need for Abians to beware of what they read and believe.
