The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ola Olukoyede has charged the Managing Director of North East Development Commission (NEDC), Mr. Mohammed Alkali to be above board in his leadership of the organization, knowing that all public officers will give account of their stewardship.

Olukoyede gave Alkali the charge when he led the management team of NEDC on a courtesy visit to him at EFCC corporate headquarters, Jabi, Abuja.

“Please let your hands be clean and your heart be pure in whatever you do. Do not forget that we are holding positions of trust and that one day we’ll be called upon to give account,” he said.

Alkali who disclosed that the visit was a show of gratitude to the EFCC for its impactful interventions in the activities of NEDC noted that there was a convergence of vision from the EFCC and the NEDC which the two agencies can exploit for greater collaboration “After going through the EFCC Act and our own Act, there are a lot of cross-cutting issues which we can play around,” he said.

While Olukoyede pledged EFCC’s willingness to further collaborate with NEDC, especially in the area of capacity building, he commended the NEDC boss for keeping away from corruption scandals so far. “I want to commend you because you’re the pioneer of the Commission and you have proven to deserve the appointment because we have not heard any major scandal about your commission. We are ready to give you all the necessary support. If there are entities that have not paid their obligations to your Commission, let us know. We also give you support in that area,” Olukoyede said.
