An Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Adegoke Fayoade has urged police personnel attached to Rapid Response Squad (RRS) to always exhibit exemplary character and be good ambassadors of the command at all times.
AIG Fayoade stated this at the end of a three-week training organized by the Lagos Rapid Response Squad (RRS) for 120 personnel of the squad at the Police College, Ikeja.
Adegoke Fayoade reminded the personnel that the essence of the training is to enhance their professionalism, problem solving skills and exhibition of.good character at their various beats.
He urged them to imbibe key lessons of the training by being agents of change in the Force. “You can only be agents of change by the way you relate with members of the public and solving problems”, he noted.
He continued: “The days of policing with force and foul languages are over. The people we are policing are highly enlightened. That is why, as policemen, we must exhibit the best of characters at all time. We must not behave anyhow.
We must avoid the use of power excessively and be mindful of the fact that somebody is watching”, he stressed.
While maintaining that the personnel should police with integrity at all times, he urged them not to pervert justice.
Some of the major highlights of today’s training included: protection of crime scenes, crowd control, gun handling and marksmanship.
Also at the training were Commander RRS, CSP Shola Jejeloye and the Executive Secretary, Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), Dr Abdurrazaq Balogun.
