Senator Lalong Denies Move By Lawmakers To Impeach Governor

With the last five members of the Plateau State House of Assembly finally inaugurated in line with Court of Appeal judgement and the rule of law, Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District and leader of the APC in the State Simon Bako Lalong wants the House to get to work and deliver quality representation to their constituents.

Lalong, while congratulating the last batch of members for their resilience, doggedness and patience to follow the rule of law, said it was unfortunate that they are only coming on board after months of delay by the Speaker.

He commended their patience and sacrifices to follow the rule of law without seeking to take laws into their hands and not loosing faith in the leadership of the party to handle the situation in a way that the peace and security of the State is not jeopardised.

With the full complement of 24 members of the House of Assembly, Senator Lalong hopes that the intrigues that played out during the almost 8 months delay will be put behind so that the Honourable members will settle down for legislative business.

He appreciated President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Senate President and Speaker House of Representatives, members of the National Assembly from Plateau State, APC State Exco as well as all lovers of democracy who lent their voices in condemning the undemocratic action of the Speaker Rt. Hon. Dewan which clearly constituted serious danger to the nation’s hard earned democracy.

A former Speaker himself and two term Governor of Plateau State, Senator Lalong had during the recent meeting of APC stakeholders in Jos dispelled insinuations that the swearing in of the Members will lead to impeachment of the Governor, saying such propaganda is unfounded and callous.

He wished them well and reminded them that politics is over and it is time for governance.
