Back to school Summit: Celestine Ukwu Memorial Foundation equips pupils, teachers

A select population of primary school pupils of Enugu state as well as their teachers have benefited from the first edition of the back to school empowerment project of Celestine Ukwu Memorial Foundation.

The event held September 12, 2024 at Village Plaza Hall, Abor, Enugu state

The Back to school empowerment is a segment of Back 2 school summit of the foundation themed, Unlocking a brighter future, and it attracted pupils and teachers from schools within Abor, Enugu state, home town of the music legend.

Igwe Onodugo, Ujaligwa 111 of Umuavulu Abor who was ably represented was Royal father of the day.

Rev Father Christopher Chukwueze of St Theresa’s Secondary School Abor was supervisor and spiritual father of the event ably anchored by Okwuluora Cajetan Aniehe.

In the words of the Executive Director of Celestine Ukwu Memorial Foundation Barrister Cynthia Ukwu “during the launch of the foundation in May 2024, we hinted on our interest in supporting issues that concern education and skills acquisition so as to equip young people for a better tomorrow. This we have started in Back to school Summit and hopefully by the moral support and otherwise of well meaning Nigerians, we hope it would be a yearly affair”

Speaking further, she noted that
“I believe that what we are doing today is what my father Celestine Ukwu, the music legend would have done. He started out as a school teacher and loved humanity especially children who are future of the world. The Back to School empowerment seeks to equip pupils and their teachers with essential articles of the new academic session including school bags, shoes and socks, writing pens and exercise books, water bottles, umbrellas and more so as to reduce the burden on parents and teachers at this austere times.

Highlight was the presentation of the biography of Celestine Ukwu by a pupil of community primary school Abor.

It was also an emotional moment to see pupils as well as their teachers singing to the praises of the celestine Ukwu memorial foundation after receiving their packages.

Barrister Ifeanyi Obodechi gave an all encompassing vote of thanks.
