NEMA Distributes Relief Materials To Victims Of Umuahia Flood, Windstorm Disaster
The National Emergency Management Agency, Owerri, Operations Office provided relief supplies to the Umuahia North LGA communities of Umuosoihie, Umunmkpaji, Umuwanda, and Umuada-Ukwu to lessen the impact of the recent flood and windstorm disasters.
Representing the Head of Operations, Mr. Oramalu Quintus expressed sympathy to the victims during the flag-off ceremony held on October 3, 2024, at the Abia SEMA warehouse in Umuahia. He encouraged the community leaders to seek means to prevent or mitigate the root causes of the flood disaster.
Dr. Sunday Jackson, the Executive Secretary of Abia SEMA, expressed gratitude to NEMA DG for the prompt action and assured NEMA that the victims will receive the commodities in an equitable manner.
Community leader Chief Chigozie Ekeleme responded on behalf of the beneficiaries and thanked the federal and state governments for coming to their aid.
