Governor Makinde Announces Payment of N70,000 Minimum Wage to Workers On World Teachers Day

Governor Seyi Makinde Of Oyo State has announced a N70,000 minimum wage for workers in Oyo State which was a significant highlight of the World Teachers Day celebration earlier today in Ibadan, Oyo State.

This move further demonstrates his administration’s commitment to enhancing the welfare of workers, particularly teachers, who are the backbone of the education sector.

During the 2024 Workers’ Day celebration, Governor Makinde emphasized his government’s focus on prioritizing the welfare of civil and public servants. He noted that despite the challenges faced by the state, his administration has consistently paid salaries promptly and paid the minimum wage since January 2020.

Governor Makinde’s administration has made significant strides in improving the education sector, reducing the number of out-of-school children by 20% and implementing policies like free distribution of admission forms and subsidizing Basic Education Certificate Examination fees for private school students. These efforts demonstrate his commitment to providing quality education and improving the lives of workers in Oyo State.
