NEMA Distributes Liquid Gel Fertilizer To Anambra Farmers Affected By Flood
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has delivered 9,148 litres of liquid gel fertilizer to the Anambra State Government for distribution to farmers impacted by the 2018 flood disaster. The handover took place at the Anambra State Emergency Management Warehouse in Awka on October 25, 2024.
The Director General NEMA, Mrs Zubaida Umar, in a remark by her representative explained that the fertilizer was approved by the National Food Security Council – Emergency Agricultural Intervention (NFSC-EAI) initiative and delivered by NEMA. Each litre of the liquid fertilizer is equivalent to 50kg of NPK 20-10-10 fertilizer and is intended to support farmers in the Anambra State.
Governor Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, represented by Chief Paul Odenigbo, Executive Secretary of ANSEMA, expressed gratitude to NEMA and the Federal Government for this support, emphasizing the importance of the fertilizer in revitalizing the livelihoods of affected farmers. He assured that the items would be distributed appropriately to the beneficiaries.
Present at the occasion were staff of the South East zonal office led by the Coordinator Mrs Ngozi Echeazu who represented the DG NEMA.
