Philanthropist Sir (Dr.) Kessington Adebukunola Adebutu has inaugurated a Media Resource Centre at the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ) in Lagos, a facility expected to strengthen Nigeria’s media sector and deliver economic benefits.

Funded by Dr. Adebutu, the 350-seat auditorium enhances NIJ’s training capabilities, equipping students and professionals with state-of-the-art resources. The facility will foster a skilled workforce in journalism, supporting job creation and attracting investment in Nigeria’s media industry.

The Honourable Minister of Finance & Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, a former member of the board of the NIJ, praised Dr. Adebutu’s contributions, noting that the centre exemplifies vital infrastructure improvements that drive economic growth.

Founded in 1971, NIJ is a leading institution in Nigerian media education. The new resource centre, alongside its existing ICT hub and studio facilities, positions NIJ as a regional leader, with the potential to attract international partnerships and support Nigeria’s knowledge-driven economy.
