Randle General Hospital, Surulere, marked the 2024 Christmas Day celebration with the presentation of gifts and food items to in-patients on behalf of the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The annual event began at the Maternal and Child Centre (MCC), Gbaja, and concluded at the main Randle General Hospital.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, Dr. (Mrs.) Kemi Ogunyemi, who attended the event with her husband, Dr. Olufemi Ogunyemi, conveyed the Governor’s goodwill message to the hospital patients.
In her remarks, she said: “I bring you the warmest greetings from Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. As his Special Adviser, it is my honour to represent him here today and to present these gifts and food items to our dear patients.”
Dr. Ogunyemi reiterated the Governor’s commitment to ensuring quality healthcare for all residents of Lagos State, stating: “Governor Sanwo-Olu is dedicated to providing every Lagos resident with access to quality healthcare. He firmly believes that healthcare is a fundamental human right and is tirelessly working to improve our healthcare system.”
“Today’s celebration is a token of the Governor’s appreciation for the resilience and strength of our patients. We recognize that the holiday season can be a challenging time for those in the hospital, and we hope that these gifts bring some comfort and joy”, she added.
The Special Adviser also commended the management and staff of Randle General Hospital for their dedication and compassion, encouraging them to continue providing excellent care with patience and kindness.
In his welcome address, the MD/CEO of Randle General Hospital, Dr. Olumide Sojinrin, expressed his gratitude to Governor Sanwo-Olu for his generosity.
He said: “I am honoured to celebrate this joyous occasion of Christmas with you. The gifts and food items presented today are a testament to the Governor’s commitment to the welfare of Lagos State residents. We are grateful for his leadership and vision for a healthier and more compassionate society.”_9
Addressing the patients, Dr. Sojinrin reassured them of the hospital’s commitment to providing the best possible care, saying: “We understand that being in the hospital during the holiday season can be difficult, but we hope these small gestures bring some joy and cheer to your hearts.”
He thanked Governor Sanwo-Olu for his thoughtfulness and wished everyone a festive season filled with joy, peace, and good health.
The event concluded with heartfelt gratitude expressed by the Apex Nurse, Elizabeth Boateng, who appreciated the Special Adviser and her husband, MD/CEO, management and staff for their presence and unwavering dedication to quality care.
