The NEMA Uyo Operations Office flagged off the distribution of relief materials to flood-affected victims in Ikot Abasi, Mkpat Enin and Eastern Obolo Federal constituency under the Federal Government’s special intervention for 2024 floods in Akwa Ibom State.
The DG, NEMA, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, was represented by Mrs. Mmandu Aisueni, Acting Head of Operations, NEMA Uyo, who conveyed the DG’s condolences and emphasized safety precautions during this yuletide season.
Rt. Hon. Uduak Alphonsus Odudoh, the member representing the Federal Constituency, commended the Federal Government and NEMA for their timely intervention, urging the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the items.
The beneficiaries represented by Mr. Ufot Solomon Ufot from Mkpat Enin LGA, Mr. Vincent Okworo from Eastern Obolo LGA and Mrs. Eno Akpan Esen from Ikot Abasi LGA expressed their sincere appreciation to the Federal Government and NEMA for the assistance.
Present at the event were other stakeholders including the LGA chairmen and community leaders. The security agencies on ground were the local vigilante, the Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Army as well as the media
