NEMA Distributes Relief Materials To Flood Victims In Ondo State

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), through its Ekiti Operations Office, has launched the distribution of relief materials to individuals affected by the 2024 flood in Akoko North-East/North-West Federal Constituency of Ondo State. The event took place on January 7, 2025, as part of the Federal Government’s Special Intervention program.

Representing the NEMA Director General, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, the Head of the Relief Unit, Mr. Ajina Ayodeji, expressed condolences to the affected communities and reaffirmed NEMA’s dedication to delivering timely disaster response. “As climate change continues to impact the global environment, it is crucial for governments, especially at the grassroots level, to enhance sensitization efforts and implement policies to help communities combat weather-related disasters. These relief materials are not meant to replace your losses but to symbolize our shared humanity and support for your recovery,” Mrs. Umar stated.

The relief package includes essential items such as rice, spaghetti, vegetable oil, seasoning cubes, tomato paste, and iodized salt.

Hon. Ifeoluwa Ehindero, representing Akoko NE/NW Federal Constituency, conveyed his gratitude to the Federal Government for its swift intervention through his representative, Mr. Peter Paul. He also assured the beneficiaries of a transparent distribution process.

Speaking on behalf of the recipients, Mr. Oladipupo thanked the Federal Government and the NEMA Director General for their support during this difficult time.
