Gov Otti Charges NYSC Batch C, Stream 11, 2024, To Embark On Training With Open Mind

The Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, has urged Corps Members posted to the state to receive all instructions and trainings that will be coming their way very seriously, with open mind and with the willingness to acquire new knowledge that will help them contribute meaningfully to the development of our state.

Governor Otti made the call at the opening/swearing-in ceremony of the 2024 Batch”C” Stream II Corps Members at the State NYSC Orientation Camp in Umunna, Bende Local Government Area.

Represented by his Deputy, Engr. Ikechukwu Lekwachi Emetu, FNSE, the Governor charged them to brace themselves for what lies ahead as it will not always be rosy but their determination to succeed must be tougher than whatever challenges that may come their way.

“May I remind you at this juncture that your posting to Abia State is not by accident. That you find yourselves here today means you have been destined to serve here. I therefore urge you not to seek for relocation but rather join hands with my administration to build the new Abia State of our dream”, the Governor counselled.

He further guaranteed them of their security in every part of the State during their service year and assured them of genuine affection that won the government the admiration of our people. Governor Otti urged all the 17 Mayors in the State to give attention to the welfare of Corps Members posted to their council areas and provide for them befitting Corps Members lodges that will make their stay comfortable.

Earlier in her speech, the Abia State Coordinator, National Youth Service Corps, Barr. Mrs. Gladys Adama expressed her profound and deepest gratitude to Governor Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, for his many kind gestures which include the release of funds to the Ministry of Lands and Housing for the rehabilitation of the orientation camp in a bid to making it one of the best orientation camps in the country.

She thanked the Governor for the release of a 100KVA generator and installation of 46 solar-powered street lights in the camp. She expressed gladness at the appointment of an Ex-Corps Member from Edo State who served in Abia State, Mr. Benson Ojeikere as the new Head of Service to the Abia State Government. Adama attested that the Corps Members have so far demonstrated a high sense of discipline, dedication and willingness to learn.

The event witnessed the administration of oath of allegiance/swearing-in of the Corps Members by the Chief Judge of Abia State.

The Mayor of Bende Local Government Area, Sir Uwabukonye Bassey, representatives of the Chief Judge of Abia State, the Brigade Commander, Nigeria Army 14 Brigade, Ohafia and the Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command attended the ceremony.
