Okpebholo’s 90- Day Miracle: Reviving AAU, Redefining Governance
In the heart of Esan land, a story of redemption and revival unfolds. The Ambrose Alli University (AAU), once on the brink of collapse, has been given a new lease on life. The institution, which was almost killed by the previous administration of Godwin Obaseki, has been rescued by the timely intervention of Governor Monday Okpebholo.
The people of Esan land had cried out to God, seeking salvation from the woes that had befallen their beloved institution. And God, in his infinite wisdom, brought forth a messiah in the person of Governor Okpebholo. Like a skilled surgeon, the governor has performed a prosperity surgical operation on AAU, restoring it to health and vitality.
The latest evidence of this revival is the secure induction of 128 medical graduates from AAU. These graduates had spent 10 long years in medical school, only to face an uncertain future due to the lingering crisis that had delayed their induction since August 2024. But Governor Okpebholo, true to his promise, has intervened to resolve the crisis, and the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria has fixed February 13, 2025, for their induction into the medical profession.¹
Governor Okpebholo’s commitment to the welfare of his people is unwavering. He has proven once again that having a male child is not a product of the length of time you spent on top of a woman. His leadership style is a breath of fresh air in the political landscape, and his dedication to the welfare of his people is inspiring.
This man is not a medical doctor, yet he has a passion for the welfare of the people. Those who have seen a medical graduate like the one in AAU will appreciate the fact that something big has come to Esan land through the efforts of one who knows the game and is diligent in service delivery. This is a legacy that will outlive him.
Take away politics, Monday Okpebholo has started well. This piece is dedicated to our distinguished Governor Monday Okpebholo, a man called by God to make a difference, teach the lousy and ineffective governance dotting the political space the rudiments of governance, bring down the glory of God into the political arena, and provoke undeniable changes that even the most virulent critic cannot fault.
In just 90 days in office, Governor Okpebholo has proven his passion for the future of AAU medical graduates.
His administration has reintroduced the payment of monthly subvention to the institution and reinstated staff who were illegally disengaged by the previous administration. These pragmatic steps have not only brought relief to the medical graduates but also reignited the hope and zeal of other students and lecturers.
