Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, Declares Open 2025 Executive Council Retreat

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has charged members of the enlarged Abia State Executive Council to approach governance with a renewed sense of urgency. This call was made during the opening of a two-day retreat themed “Sustaining Momentum: Accelerating Execution” at the International Conference Centre, Umuahia.

In his address titled “Eyes on the Ball”, Governor Otti emphasized the importance of raising governance standards beyond previous administrations. He urged participants to develop a sustainable execution plan to achieve the state’s strategic targets for 2025, noting that 2025 would be a crucial year for Abia’s development.

The Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Kenneth Kalu, highlighted the significant progress made in infrastructure, health, and education under Governor Otti’s administration and stressed the need to sustain and accelerate the momentum.

A keynote speaker, former Head of Service of the Federation, Mr. Stephen Oronsaye, delivered a presentation on improving public service through efficiency, accountability, and impactful reforms. He recommended capacity building, staff audits, and strategic collaboration between the Civil Service Commission and the Office of the Head of Service.

Participants, including senior government officials, expressed optimism that the retreat would enhance collaboration between political appointees and bureaucrats, ensuring a unified approach to policy implementation for 2025.

The retreat is expected to realign governance strategies and set a clear agenda for achieving Governor Otti’s vision for a new and prosperous Abia.
