Mrs. Oluyemisi Adefoluke Ogunlola has assumed office as the new Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Law Reform Commission (LAWRECOM) following her recent appointment by the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.
The new Executive Secretary of LAWRECOM, who has over 30 years of experience in legal practice, legislative drafting, and public administration, is poised to lead the Commission in its mission to modernise and reform Lagos State’s legal framework.
A graduate of Law from the University of Lagos, Mrs. Ogunlola was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1990. She began her distinguished career with the Lagos State Ministry of Justice in 1994, serving in the Legislative Drafting Department and rising to the position of Director in 2015.
Her extensive tenure includes key roles across six prominent government parastatals, including the Lagos State House of Assembly, Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Ministry of Education, Office of the Special Adviser on Education, Ministry of Youth & Social Development, and Ministry of Women Affairs & Poverty Alleviation. In these capacities, she provided legal advisory services and played pivotal roles in legislative drafting and administration.
Mrs. Ogunlola also holds a Master’s degree in Legislative Drafting from the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies and a professional degree in Administration from the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN). Her comprehensive understanding of Lagos State’s legal and administrative framework, combined with her leadership experience, positions her to drive significant reforms within LAWRECOM.
As Executive Secretary, Mrs. Ogunlola is committed to establishing best practices in law reform and contributing positively to Lagos State’s developmental agenda. She understands the importance of reviewing obsolete laws in alignment with government policies and leveraging technology to inform citizens about legal reforms.
Beyond her professional achievements, Mrs. Ogunlola is passionate about mentorship and empowering others. As she embarks on her new role, the Executive Secretary is poised to lead LAWRECOM into a new era of impact and value.
