Oyetola, Akuta, Interacts With Media Executives On The Way Forward in The Maritime Sector

The Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian Shippers’ Council, Akutah Pius Ukeyima Esq., MON, FCILT, FInsTA, Ph.D., joined the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, at an interactive session with the Nigerian Guild of Editors(NGE) recently in Lagos

The session aimed to shed light on the policies and initiatives driving Nigeria’s marine and blue economy sector.

The Minister, Oyetola highlighted Nigeria’s vast marine resources, including an 853-kilometer coastline and a 300,000-square-kilometer Exclusive Economic Zone.

He emphasized the ministry’s commitments to unlocking the sector’s potential through initiatives like the National Blue Economy Strategy, the Fisheries and Aquaculture Policy, and a Ten-Year Roadmap focused on technology, private sector investment, and sustainability to drive sector growth.

The Minister also highlighted the impact of reforms at Export Terminals and the implementation of the National Single Window (NSW) and Port Community System (PCS). These initiatives have led to significant improvements in export volumes and trade facilitation, streamlining port operations, reducing cargo dwell time, and boosting trade efficiency.

The interactive session marked a significant step in promoting public awareness and understanding of Nigeria’s marine and blue economy sector.
