NSC Is Doing Everything To Promote Industry Growth – CEO

The Executive Secretary/CEO of Nigerian Shippers’ Council, Akutah Pius Ukeyima Ph.D, recently received the planning committee of Nigeria Maritime Conference and Exhibition (NIMAREX) at the Council headquarters in Lagos.
The meeting focused on areas of collaboration to resuscitate the Nigeria Maritime Conference and Exhibition to showcase Nigeria’s Maritime potential, attract investors, and promote industry growth.
Speaking at the meeting, Dr. Akutah Pius, MON, disclosed the commitment of the Council in driving the renewed hope agenda of the president in the maritime industry as the NSC is doing everything possible to achieve ease of doing business in the sector which is in line with the vision and mission of NIMAREX.
According to him, the Nigerian Shippers’ Council as the Port Economic Regulator has a role to play in moving Nigeria to a ship-owner country and creating an enabling environment for private sector investment to thrive, also noted that the Council will be partnering with the body in furthering the regulatory mandate of the agency when NPERA is signed into law.
In her response, the consultant of the Nigeria Maritime Exhibition (NIMAREX), Ms. Funmi Folorunsho said the event resuscitation is aimed at promoting partnerships for the development of Nigerian shipping lines, Identifying the potential of AFCFTA to support the country, and implementation of National Cabotage.
She also noted that their move is to put NIMAREX as an annual event presence and Exhibition.
