Nasir el Rufai Dumps APC For SDP, Says He Wants To Pursue His Progressive Values

As the political maneuveing for the 2027 general elections continues, one of the key players Nigerians may have to look out for is former Kaduna State, Governor Mallam Nasir el Rufai.
The former FCT Minister has now joined the Social Democratic Party, SDP, as part of his move to achieve his political ambition of becoming the President.
The former Kaduna State Governor and one of the strong men of the ruling APC during the President Muhammad Buhari administration announced this via his Xhandle
“At this point in my political journey, I have come to the conclusion that I must seek another political platform for the pursuit of the progressive values I cherish. I have now decided to join the Social Democratic Party (SDP)”, el Rufai wrote..
Though no official reason was given for his decamping, political observers believe this may not be unconnected with his strained relationship with President Tinubu and other members of the ruling APC hierarchy.
el Rufai ‘s defection is coming on the heels of his rumoured presidential joint ticket with Peter Obi under PDP come 2027. However, this rumoured was quashed by the secretariat of the PDP Governors forum, who said the purported presidential ticket is rumour peddled by those who are bent on destroying the party.
