Abia State Government Sympathizes With Geometric Power Limited Over Fire Outbreak

Abia State Government has commiserated with Geometric Power Limited over the fire outbreak that affected a building located in the premises.
Speaking when he paid an on the spot visit to Geometric Power Limited, the Abia State Commissioner for Power and Public Utilities Engr. Ikechukwu Monday thanked God that no life was lost , while applauding Geometric Power Emergency Safety Team, Abia State Fire Services and the host Communities for working as a team to stop the fire from spreading further and assured Government’s commitment to find out the root cause of the fire.
Engr. Ikechukwu Monday extolled His Excellency, The Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti OFR for revamping and equipping the Abia State Fire Services and Emergency Response Team which has transformed the organization to work round the clock towards ensuring the efficient delivery of emergency response to the residents of the state.
The Commissioner also commended the host communities for expressing their support by coming out to stop the fire and urged them to keep on taking ownership of Infrastructures in their locality whether Government or privately owned.
Conducting the Commissioner round the fire outbreak site which is few meters away from the power plant the MD Aba Power Electric Company, Mr Ugo Opiegbe said the fire which started around 3,02 am today was battled to standstill by 5am through the prompt action of Aba Power Safety Team, the host communities and Abia State Emergency fire services, disclosed that the cause of the fire outbreak has not been ascertained stating that investigation is on going.
In their contributions, the MD of GPAL Mr. Ben Caven and the head of Safety Team Mr. Andrew Amaje said the house affected by fire is used for administrative purposes for Field Engineers, IT Section disclosing that computers, Printers, documents and other equipment were lost in the inferno.
